my ICT presentation is on the American t.v. show CHUCK. It is a reasonably new show starring Zachary Levi (pictured below). I have chosen it because it is based around computers and hacking and programming so it has taught me a lot about highly advansed technology.

I have chosen to do my presentation on the american tv series CHUCK. It is a reasonably new show starring Zachary Levi and others. I have chosen it because it has a general ICT theme and is mainly about computers. It is very educational in my view.

The Difference Between the Internet and the World Wide Web

Lots of people think that the internet and the world wide web are the same or just similar things but actually they are completely different things.

The internet is like a networking infrastructure, it is a network made of other networks. What it does is it links millions of computers around the world. From London to Shanghai. From Lisbon to LA. If you are on the network (the internet) you can connect with anyone else on the internet. You can communicate, send emails, send files. Anything sent of the internet is translated into languages called protocols.

But the world wide web is a vastly different thing. The web is a way of getting to and accessing information using the internet. It is a module of info sharing that is built using the internet. The web uses HTTP protocol this can be translated into any language. Then on top of the web there are browsers like google chrome, safari and firefox. These help you access stuff on the internet and look at web pages using hyperlinks. These also help you see graphics and videos.

Browsers

Browsers are mechanisms that help you access the Internet and get around the Internet. The first browser came out in 1991. It was the WorldWideWeb invented by the living legend Tim Berners-Lee. It was revolutionary and meant people could guide themselves around the Internet. Then in 1993 Marc Andreesen led a team of geniuses to create NCSA Mosaic. This was the first popular browser and it was bought by almost everyone with a computer. Then Marc Andreesen started his own company, Netscape, and created Netscape Navigator which quickly became the most popular browser in the world. At its peak almost 90% of internet users were using it.

The Many Names of J-Dog

As 'The Mighty Boosh' once said "I GO BY MANY NAMES." And for me this is true. People call me a variety of names. Now when i was young my peeps called me Jake. But as i got older this (being a great name) was just a bit dull, so i decided to move on to something a bit more creative. I chose BARNARD. I felt this suited me a bit more and it worked with my talents in art and photography. Then as i started a new school at the age of 5, i decided to change to a more traditional name and used my initials JDAF. But although this was quite catchy it never really felt right. Then i had a phase where i went through about a name a month. I was called JACY to BRRRRRRACKEN. Then when i took up the role of the wall in shakespears midsummers night dream. The lead changed the line "thanks courteous wall" to "thanks CURTIS WALL" and this really caught on. I kept this name for a while and even now i will sometimes bump into old aquatancies that will call me CURTIS WALL. Then finally after years of wondering if i could ever find a name that suited me, I settled on a name that suited me well. J-Dog.
